| Kevin Higgins & Barbara Malteze (of The Dust Devils)
Kevin Higgins spent the first half of his life in El Paso. Vestiges of the people and terrain live on through his latest collection of songs, "West Texas Aggregates", due out later this year. A poet possessing a penchant for imagery, Higgins creates music which carries listeners from distant horizons to the very depth of the human soul.
Higgins, (New Folk Finalist and Kerrville Folk Festival Main Stage performer), has been regarded as the "next great Texas songwriter", with a truly unique ability to weave the "old and familiar" with a natural sense of transcendence.
Barbara Malteze, (often compared to Janis Joplin), shares lead vocals with Higgins, and adds keyboards to the palette that Higgins offers up. Two-time Texas Music Awards' winner of "Female Vocalist of the Year", Malteze's singing beautifully complements Higgins' vocals .
This engaging husband-and-wife team have found a firm foothold on the enduring landscape that is "Texas Music." Higgins and Malteze perform throughout the United States as a duo, (as well as all over Texas with their popular Southern rock band, The Dust Devils).
